Every now and then, you find your vehicle stuck in the worst possible way. Not something we try to do, but something that happens none the less. You hope that someone has a winch or a tow strap with them so you can get extracted from your predicament. What happens in the odd chance you need to get pulled from an angle? You hope someone has a winch with a snatch block! What happens when you don't have a winch or a snatch block? This is where North America 4x4's Recovery Block comes in. Most four wheelers carry at least one tow strap with them and most of us travel in groups so when we do get stuck, there is another truck to help us out. The Recovery Block is basically a snatch block for tow straps!
The Recovery Block comes in 3 strap sizes, 2", 3", and 4". The recovery block is built out of one inch round stock steel and two inch pipe. Both ends of the tubes are welded on the inside and the outside, and then the ends are capped and welded. The final result is a triple weld making the Recovery Block very strong.
Testing the Recovery Block, we took the Project TJ & Mighty Moe out to get one of them stuck. Without trying too hard, we got the Project TJ stuck in a muddy river and buried it down to the axle. We first tied off the Recovery block to a nearby tree with a 2" tow strap. We then connected the other tow strap to the Project TJ through the Recovery Block and to Mighty Moe. At first, we tried to just let the Cruiser pull the TJ out without a ny assistance from the TJ. However, we buried the TJ pretty good and the Cruiser could not pull the TJ out. With some assistance from the TJ, the Cruiser, and the Recovery Block, the TJ popped right out of the mud!
We thought that the Recovery Block worked well despite having any moving parts. It is great tool to have around if you are just ru nning around with tow straps. It allows angled pulls using 2 straps and will assist you in getting that truck unstuck! It is small and easy to keep anywhere in your truck. The Recovery Block comes with a 30 day money back guarantee and is guaranteed for life! At around $50 that's not a bad deal. Check them out:
