Fade to Black

Skyjacker® Suspensions is world renowned for their suspension products and their classic corporate color 'red'. Skyjacker likes red... red coil springs, red brackets, red polyurethane bushings, you have all seen it. Get ready for a new era of progression.

Beginning February 1st, Skyjacker made an ongoing transition to a new powder coat and the color of choice is 'black'. This Bayou Black, as they call it, has a fine textured finish just like the silty gumbo back water of the Southern bayous near their headquarters in West Monroe, Louisiana. According to the engineering guys at Skyjacker, the chemical make up of this powder coat is formulated to be 'slicker' than most textured powders. The strong heat bond creates a very durable and effective cloak around the parts. The finish will also resist gathering mud, dirt, and grime more so than other, courser textured finishes.

This new color change was adapted from suggestions from Skyjacker's ever growing dealer network and from you, their customers. Red doesn't always match the overall scheme of today's modern rides, but black is always fashionable and very universal. This Bayou Black doesn't distract and it focuses the attention back to you and your ride, not just what's underneath. The part's we have seen have the feel of OE coating feel with a nice luster.

Skyjacker told us that everything will be going to the Bayou Black - except a few small items that are Zinc plated or billet Aluminum and, of course, the bushings & urethane components. Components on their late model IFS kits that are currently black are also changing to the new textured Bayou Black powder coat.

This will be a running change beginning immediately, Skyjacker products with our new Bayou Black powder coat will utilize existing part numbers, but will be stamped “BLACK” on the box. Skyjacker plans to have this transition completed and shipping only Bayou Black components by June 2007.

We were also told to keep a look out for some very innovative shock designs and with some very coordinating colors to match their new black scheme. We will let you know when it happens.
