Now, before I get into trouble right off the get go, let me put in a disclaimer. Judy is still only 5’ tall, and still doesn’t tip the scales much past the 1 ¼ mark . There, maybe that will keep my PJ’s from ending up out in the dog house.
Well, we have been talking it around for the last 8 months that Nana was going to get a new ride for her offroad adventures. Now it is time to “Let the Games Begin”. With the selling of her loyal 88 YJ (that was by no means a trailer Queen) on Christmas Eve, it had become a #1 priority to “Get Er Done”. We already had the frame coming to us from Jeremy at Throttle Down Customs. That would give us a solid foundation to build upon.
The next step was to find a suitable Jeep body to build atop the TDK custom frame. For this I slipped into Editor John Buell’s back yard. Well, not quite, but I located one within a few miles from where JB calls home and made a quick trip down to Denton, Tx.. From Bret and PJ Lou, I purchased a 95 YJ rolling chassis that should fill our needs for a tub.
Brad, Judy, granddaughter Riley and myself loaded in the Dodge Project truck and headed south. With the temperature sitting at 32 degrees and snow flakes filling the sky, we pinned our ears back and headed for warmer temperatures. We arrived in Denton and were greeted by 20 degree warmer weather. We dragged the black YJ from the weeds and pushed it onto the trailer.
By the time we strapped her in, the cold front had chased us down and the wind chill dropped temps dramatically. We found time to tour Bret and PJ's inventory of Jeeps then climbed into the Dodge and headed to the TA truck stop where we enjoyed a warm cup of coffee and some snacks with Editor John Buell. We spent about an hour talking about Editor Mike Troy because he wasn’t there to defend himself. We had a great visit and then pinned the ears back on the Dodge and fought our way back to Oklahoma fighting a 30+ mile per hour head wind.
Now that we have the YJ in place for the project, we dug out the catalogs and started spending Nana’s money. For the next couple of weeks we will be gathering the parts and then will dive head long into “Project Nanas' Going Big ”.
Stay tuned as we take the stripped out YJ and build it atop of the TDK custom frame into something that will have Nana (Judy) holding her head high as she hammers her way to the top of trail heads across the country.
Now don’t go far or you will miss something good as this will be one you will want to follow closely, because “IF NANA AIN’T HAPPY, THEN AIN’T NOBODY HAPPY”. We hope you enjoy following along as we get to work.

God Bless You and Yours
